After hospital vigilance
Looking after Mum after her treatment at Wakefield Hospital in Wellington was a great help to our family, and I am very grateful for the support we received from Steady Companion.
Mum had gone in for a procedure and was given sedation, which seemed to go smoothly. Steady Companion took her home in a taxi and stayed with her throughout the afternoon and into the night.
It was just as well, because at 2am Mum got up, went into the kitchen, became unsteady, and fell over.
She was unable to get back up on her own, but the companion was immediately there, stayed calm, helped her safely back to her feet, and got her settled back into bed.
The next morning Mum had no recollection of the incident, but they told me about it, and I am very, very grateful she was not alone.
It was good at the time to be able to organise it, but when I think about what could have happened, I cannot thank Steady Companion enough.
